Rumor: New Consoles Will Not Support Used Games; Gamestop Stock Drops
GameStop stock headed downhill after rumors submerged to the public.
One rumor that hit the streets is that consoles from both Microsoft and Sony will not allow their systems to play used games. It's not certain how the consoles will apply this, but there's one way that seems popular. They intend to equip each brand new game with a serial code that will register to the first console that it's inserted to. With that being the case, that will make selling/trading/borrowing games impossible.
From a gamer's perspective, this is upsetting. I as a gamer like the fact that I can purchase video games online for half the price of a new game.
GameStop is known for their distribution of used games. They allow customers to sell their unwanted games and gaming equipment for trade in value towards their next purchase. With the possible extinction of used games, this will be a tragedy for the giant gaming retailer.
Another rumor is that the Xbox 720 may require a constant live internet connection. A large portion of gamers don't have an internet connection. How will this change the sales of the new generation consoles?
Are these rumors true? Nothing is certain till the actual company releases information. How are these rumors popping out? They are either real facts released from developers working on the new consoles or coming from the deep, dark, unknown basements that sustain disgusting creatures called trolls.
